We recently sat down with Carina, owner of one of Sydney's top skin clinics, Belaméres to talk about why deep hydration matters for skin health, and the results she's seeing with beautylytes®.
What are the common skin concerns you're seeing in clinic right now?
“The main concerns women come to me with are skin dehydration, lack of elasticity, and crepey, dull skin.
What causes dehydrated skin is when clients drink lots of coffee or alcohol and aren't drinking enough water during the day. However, a lot of clients do drink water, but their bodies are not able to absorb the hydration properly. Which is where electrolytes come in.”
You clinically measure hydration levels in the skin. Why?
“We have a device at Belameres that is a medical-grade ultrasound scan, so we're able to clinically measure collagen, collagen density and hydration in the dermis, not the surface level of the skin.
Collagen takes about 90 days to form new, smaller fibres in the deeper levels of the dermis, so we always prefer to scan clients at the start of their skin journey, and again after 90 days to assess the results.”
What results have you noticed when clients drink Avive before skin treatments?
"We started offering clients one sachet of Avive before their treatments, and when we scan their skin 90 minutes later, combined with their treatment, we're seeing hydration levels in the dermis (not surface level) increase by up to 4x in the dermis, which is unbelievable!"
Why is hydration such an important part of skin health?
“For many of our clients, they drink water, but their bodies are actually not able to absorb the hydration effectively, for many different reasons. And it shows up in the skin.
